The Beginning

Don and Karen Vlieger opened Sunnyside Inn Bed & Breakfast in 1989 after finding the historic Fordyce house in disrepair and remodeling it to include seven additional bathrooms. They kept all the original details they could and the 1919 bathroom with period tilework is still in use in the Lola room. In 2016 their daughter Kristi Vlieger took over operations to continue offering hospitality to business and leisure travelers. Don, Karen and their children Kristi, John and Hannah all very much enjoy traveling and have so far visited: Central and South America; the Caribbean; Australia and New Zealand; Western, Central, Northern and Eastern Europe; Russia; North Africa; Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

Sunnyside Inn

Enjoy accommodations that are a cut above the common experience when you stay at Sunnyside Inn. Ideally located in the heart of Washington wine country, you will find yourself amidst dozens of Washington's finest wineries, fun and sun.

The inn's historical main house was originally built in 1919 by Dr. Fordyce as his office and family residence.  In 1989 the building was renovated to become Sunnyside Inn and has been regularly updated to welcome guests in the thirty years since.  The Lola Room upstairs includes the original bathroom of the house, all completely functional.

Weekend vacationers, business travelers, groups and families enjoy the inn for its size, location and welcoming atmosphere.  A full country breakfast is served family style in the dining rooms each morning. Kitchenettes, additional beds, long term stays and pet-friendly rooms are available. High thread count linens and memory foam mattresses are standard. Many guests savor the valley's long summer nights on the patio or relax with a soak in a spa tub.

Located in the small town of Sunnyside, the inn is within walking distance of Côte Bonneville Winery, Co Dinn Cellars, Varietal Beer Company and Snipes Mountain Brewery. Also within a stone's throw are Sunnyside's large Cinco de Mayo celebration, Summer Ale Fest in June and Lighted Farm Implement Parade, the longest running of its kind in the nation, in December. The area participates in winery events all year: Red Wine & Chocolate, Spring Barrel Tasting, Catch the Crush and Thanksgiving in Wine Country.

We want your stay with us to be a pleasant one, so while you are here, if there is anything we can do to make your stay better, just ask.

“Be ready with a meal or a bed when it's needed. Why, some have extended hospitality to angels without ever knowing it!”
